How is Haleeb milk made?
Haleeb milk is not actually made but it is processed milk. We collect raw milk from approved dairy farms and process it ensuring the highest standards. Some people think that perhaps Haleeb milk is made from chemicals or synthetically but this is not true.

How is milk collected for Haleeb Foods Limited?
The method of collection is to only collect milk from the approved suppliers who are maintaining their cattle in accordance to the prescribed standards. The animals have to be healthy and free from meningitis. Before collections from these farms it is tested, by conducting 8 different tests, to ensure that it is of the prescribed standards. Once it passes these tests it is placed in chiller containers which protect milk from air, light and heat. This milk is then transported to the plant. The chiller containers are aseptically cleaned before milk is stored in them.

How is SKIMZ produced?
Milk is collected from the best available sources. It is pasteurized to kill all pathogenic bacteria. All fat is removed from the milk and water is evaporated from it under vacuum. It is then spray dried. Spray drying increases the quality of solubility of milk powder, making it more "instant". The product is then packed in aluminum foil to protect it from bacteria, heat and light, and to preserve its freshness and flavor. How SKIMZ differs from other milk powders?
There are mainly two types of milk powders, full cream and skimmed. SKIMZ is a skimmed milk powder. Full cream powder contains approximately 28% fat, whereas SKIMZ contains less than 1% fat. Also the protein and calcium contents are higher in SKIMZ as compared to full cream milk powder.

What happens with the fresh milk at the plant reception?
Once the milk reaches the plant reception it is once again tested by qualified Chemists and Micro- Biologists by conducting various tests This enables us to market milk conforming to the national standards.Once the milk has passed these further tests, it is accepted by the Quality Control Officers and then it is transferred to the cooling tanks, cooling the milk to 5 degree centigrade within minutes.

What is Homogenization?
Homogenization is a process in which all the cream in the milk is mixed into the milk. In this process the milk is passed through 200 Bars of pressure, which in turn breaks each cell to 0.5 microns that is 200 times smaller than its actual size.By applying this enormous pressure the entire cream mixes in the total milk. This process makes every drop of Haleeb milk highly nutritional, energy giving and homogeneous to the other parts. This is the reason why on boiling Haleeb does not accumulate cream on the top like ordinary milk.

What is OSTEOPOROSIS and how can SKIMZ help me avoid it?
OSTEOPOROSIS is defined as the conditon where there is a loss of bone density leading to bones becoming brittle. Common signs of osteoporosis include backache, a stooped posture and increased risk of fractures. If calcium intake is not sufficient, the body starts taking calcium from the bones. Therefore, calcium intake should match USRDA (United States Recommended Dietary Allowance). USRDA of calcium for adults in 800mg per day. Skimmed Milk meets this requirement exaclty. Just two glasses of Skimz a day provides 1300 mg of calcium compared to 900mg of full cream milk without the extra fat.

What is Pasteurization?
Pasteurization is the process of boiling milk and then immediately cooling it to a lower temperature.

What is Standardization?
Standardization is the process in which the excess Fats and SNF?s are removed from the milk in order to achieve the standard of 3.5% Fat and 8.9% SNF as prescribed by the Pakistan Pure Food Laws.

What is Sterilization?
Sterilization is the process of heating every particle of milk to atleast 212oF for such a period so as to ensure that all micro organisms are killed.

What is the difference between Haleeb Milk and Candia Milk?
Both are full-cream milk containing 3.5% fat according to the food law requirements of Pakistan. Both are manufactured in Pakistan by the same dairy company ?Haleeb Foods Limited?. Since Haleeb milk is comparatively thicker than Candia milk due to slight variation in the manufacturing and packing process, it is positioned as a tea-whitener. Candia milk, on the other hand has been positioned for drinking purposes. Thus, the only distinction that a customer has to make while deciding on brand purchase is his/her own usage concern. Also, both brands are priced at the same level, which makes purchase even simpler.

What is the difference between Skimz Powder & Skimz Liquid
There is no major difference between the two forms in terms of product composition and quality. Both contain less than 1% fat and a higher calcium and protein contents than full-cream milk. Skimz Liquid however is more convenient in terms of usage. Thus, a customer has an open choice to use either Skimz Skimmed Milk Powder or Skimz Liquid Milk or use one as an alternative to another keeping in view his own convenience and comfort.

What is UHT?
UHT means Ultra Heat Treatment. In this process the milk passes through 140 degree centigrade in 3 seconds and then immediately cooled to 20 degree centigrade in the next 5 seconds, which in turn kills all the bacteria. This is the most sophisticated and advanced process in the world. At Haleeb Foods Limited we use the indirect method of UHT meaning that milk is heated by steam passing through stainless steel pipes outside milk. All other brands in Pakistan use the direct method of heating that is by injecting steam in the milk, this adds water content in the milk, where as indirect heating in fact evaporates water from the milk. This is what makes Haleeb the "Thickest Milk".

What processes does the milk go through before it is packed?
The milk is pasteurized at 78oC killing 98% germs/bacteria. The milk after pasteurization is then standardized as prescribed by the Pakistan Pure Food Laws at 35% Fats and 8.9% SNF (solid non fats). Only for Haleeb these standards are superseded to make it a premium quality product. The milk is the Homogenized. Homogenized milk is then passed through the UHT (Ultra Heat Treatment) process before it is packed using advance Tetra Brick technology.

Who should use SKIMZ?
Skimz is meant for adults only. Infants and babies should not be given Skimmed Milk without prior medical advice. It is specifically meant for all those who wish to avoid fat in their food. Skimmed Milk is also meant for people suffering from cardiac disorders, or high blood pressure who like drinking milk and eating milk-based desserts. A regular intake of calcium is good for women who wish to avoid or control osteoporisis which occurs after menopause.
